Sketching Week 4 Term 3. Map reading crowds |

This week we’ve pushed you out there even more. PEOPLE – oh no. I can’t do people. They keep moving. Etc etc. So we did some contour exercises to start the class and getting you just to look at the shapes people make. Who cares if they have funny legs and odd shapes – we all do!

It was also the first watercolour class for our new sketchers. Putting out colours in the palette and brushing one colour over another. Big strokes. No painty painty!

Well guess what. You just proved to yourselves that you can sketch people and crowds! Your tutors are delighted with your progress this week, starting with first tentative efforts, to really seeing the contour shapes of busy map reading tourists.

In fact we have many students now who were quite fearful of ‘people’ till they let go and who now sketch them at every chance.
