Week 10 already. Surely not. But yes and we always go on a travelling adventure to somewhere notable.
For Monday New Sketchers, it was the big ‘P’ lesson. Perspective and how we get it sorted. The graph we’ve designed helps hugely, though it’s often a different story when you go out into the world and try and make the theory work. It does of course make sense once you’ve calmed down and simply observe all the angles.
Your tutors were really impressed with Monday’s sketches – fantastic – and you’ve only had 5 weeks. Congratulations to you all.
Other classes headed to Cockatoo Island. Things didn’t quite go to plan though the sketchers did some lovely work with big machinery. This was a former shipbuilding and convict site, so plenty to keep you busy.
What a wonderful location, however the tutors made a last minute decision to change plans and go to another harbourside location – and an old favourite – North Head and the flannel flowers at Cemetery No 3.
So from Wednesday through to Saturday, we ducked the rain and managed some blue skies, long enough to sketch that incredible view, from North Head. We wee hoping the simple white flannel flowers were out, but not quite. Just beginning to open. No worries mate.
Bella Vista Cafe loves us coming and sets up a special table for us to be seated together and get started – with a great cafe in hand. We do enjoy their excellent food, so lunch and sketching is s very happy time.
So ended our 10th week. Everybody now produces very impressive sketches and have learned to relax and let the thing be loose, loose, loose. We’ll see you back next term.
Take a look here and enjoy our sketches.
