This was week 3 and for our General classes it was food glorious food. Extremely healthy mind you. Nothing processed here.
Our still life was a beautiful arrangement of artichokes, red radishes, pears, brie with balsamic and black truffle oil bottles. A very nice composition of shapes and colour. The learning this week was to make the colours of food look edible. Easy to get mud!!
During the week a class or two tried sketching with both left and right hands. They loved the less controlled lines that happen.
Classes were sketching on location at the Manly Food Co-op where organic food is still displayed in baskets or containers with hand written signs and prices. We like that. One class threw in a quick streetscape, just for fun, before going in.
Ora Cafe almost next door was our chance to try some very tasty healthy dishes and to sketch them. Those pens were flying. Otherwise hunger (and malnutrition) sets in!
New Sketchers were working on colours of the sea. Using our watercolour pencils, we can create many hues and tones with very few colours and capture the ceruleans and aquas of the water.
A touch of yellow ochre, dash of warm red and there’s your sand impression.
We love our quick line impressions and with that simple colour added it really tops it off. This week’s sketches from every class were outstanding. You have certainly learned our colour use beautifully.
