EHS SYDNEY WEEK 6 TERM 4 ’16
Week 6 and we are now seeing our own styles come shining through. You only have your own style as you know, so embrace it. Other influences may be there but there’s only one you. We’ve covered a big variety of subjects this week. New Sketchers were into eye level perspective, the very key to everything you’ll need to know when sketching urban landscapes. The concept is easy to grasp once we lead you through our step by step observation. You’ll be amazed when you see how well our students learn this concept,in all our EHS schools and that many are first timers.
General classes were focusing on vistas and what is within them. It could be the big scene across the bay or closeup of leaves on the trees in front. Just anything which captures it for you and uses as many mediums and techniques as you like.
Once again it’s that time of year when each student submits a work for our annual Student Exhibition at Bella Vista Cafe and Gallery. On from Dec 2 till mid January. This will be well worth a visit.
Meanwhile we also have an exhibition at Belgrave Cartel Cafe and Bar. This is more a rustic European style venue and we’re delighted to have been invited to show here. On till Nov 29. Both our exhibitions are a fab chance to purchase an affordable artwork by a local artist. The joy of sketching is what we’re about so our exhibition is very much about sharing that. You may even be tempted to try it for yourself. Beware. Sketching is addictive – in the nicest possible way.

EHS MELBOURNE – WEEK 7 TERM 4 ’16
Yes it’s people this week. What a long way everyone’s progressed. Everyone is excited to come each week and see what unfolds from their own and everyone else’s sketch book.
We have a lot of fun as everybody takes a turn to pose for quick sketches. Christine certainly helped us out with her fitness poses.
We enjoy freshly made croissants, scones jam and cream, almond brioche or homemade vegetable or French onion soup. Of course great coffee with Chocolatier chocolates all while sketching. What could be better than that –
Thursday nights 6-8 pm at Le Petit Lapin commencing again Feb 2 – April 6 More news next week on Summer sketch days and other Term 1 classes.
Cheers, Jeanette.
EHS AUCKLAND WEEKS 5 & 6 TERM 4 ’16
Our classes this week knew they were in for some new and exciting techniques and they could hardly wait. Cross hatching – lines and dots. Sketch your big old tree with black hatching and cross hatching to get light and dark, Then add colour behind only.
Everyone REALLY loved it and went away feeling they’d had achieved something new. This b/w trick is perfect if you only want to sketch with a book and pen and nothing more. However if you are sketching little cakes, go for colour.
Very happy sketchers this week. As always.
Cheers Tony.
EHS TOKYO – General Sketching
General class in Ginza. We escaped busy touristic places and sketched a lovely pink building at a corner. Then went to a generous space in Mitsukoshi department store to do our second sketch with our morning coffee. There are little shrines and Jizo smiling on the roof top. We couldn’t resist sketching them. Such a lovely day Cheers Atsuko
