Our classes offer such diversity these days. With day, evening, mid morning classes for both New and General Sketchers, the subject of the week may be set, but it’s how each class goes about it that creates such interest when you see all of the work together.
You’ll see sketches of complex Federation architecture alongside early Australian cottage styles. We sketched montages of figure forms in action followed by people sketching in cafes. For our evening class it was sketching by candlelight over wine and nibbles and wondering what the heck colour we’d just used in the dark. We were highly amused by it all.
As always every class steps up to the plate and produces very inspiring sketch stories of what they observe on the day – or night, but of course, their very own version.
And again with every class, no matter how long you’ve been with us, we like you to learn something new every time.
Our Student Exhibition is open from next Friday November 2. Do get along to see what a wonderful collection of personal moments we have for you.
We exhibit to share the idea that sketching is for everybody. Every sketch is by someone once too afraid to put pen to paper, but who have joined our big sketching family and discovered that everything in life can be a sketch, and you have that moment forever in your sketchbook.

EHS MELBOURNE – Week 8 Term 4 ’16
Yes another week has flown by with our Sketchers still enthusiastically ‘having a go’ at whatever they are challenged with and what remarkable results from them all.
This week was bikes -try sketching one from memory – amazing as we’ve looked at these all our lives!
It was a wet night in Melb so not too may bikes to be found however we did manage some.
A French dinner in the cafe this week had us sketching to French music , lots of laughter and a 3 course French meal that we all enjoyed.
Come along and enjoy the French atmosphere bookings now open for Term 1 2017 Feb 2- April 6. See the website for dates times and places.
General Sketchers Tuesday November 22 ’16
We had planned to do wording and type, which can become readings and front pages in your sketchbook – but – as we sometimes do – but it was such a beautiful day I switched tack.
Birds and more birds – a local initiative to save birds in the area and public invited to come and buy a wooden bird and paint it.
It was such a magic day sitting under the trees and seeing a panorama of coloured wooden birds. So we practised a few to get the idea of it, – using paint and highlighting areas with wc colour pencil
Everyone loved it. Then went down we went and sketched birds.
