Week 2 Term 2. Seeing Things Differently

Saturday 5th May, 2018

This week our Intro Sketching classes were learning to layer colour simply and get dimension at the same time. For some of our Intro classes it was the first week so we were looking at shape and page planning. Those first essential ways to see your subject. Without deconstructing the shape of everything around you – somehow the sketch just doesn’t seem to work.

Travel Sketching classes were under the influence of Tommy Kane, illustrator and addicted sketcher. His work is very full of detail and shading, and he chooses to treat everything from giraffes to architecture in his inimitable style. We were looking at the way he sketches pieces of buildings. A lovely way to get us to try something another way. We did extremely well and you’ll see them below.
