Sketch&Lunch. A taste of Vietnam

June 10, 2017 by Erin Hill Sketching

Sketch&Lunch We meet once a month (last Monday of the month) for some sketching, shopping of unique ingredients and eating of delicious lunch. Our first ever Sketch&Lunch was all about Vietnam this month. We met at the water buffalo and decided to sketch it whilst waiting for the rest of the group to join us. The water buffalo is on Freedom plaza in Cabramatta.   Next we headed to the Vietnamese bakery, where I introduced students to the delights of […]

Sketch your Cake High Tea at THE TEA COSY Tea Room. Thursday July 31st. 2pm – 4pm.    33 George St, The Rocks It’s high time we had another of our delicious Sketch Your Cake events.  This time we are going to the quaintest little tea rooms this side of the blarney. Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. Sketching & Giving.

May 31, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

THURSDAY 10AM & 11.30AM CLASSES. MAY 29TH 2014. This week we were sketching to raise funds for Cancer Council’s ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’ I’d received the promotional material in the mail before leaving for overseas, and had put it  into our term schedule, so that I could be part of it on my return. Everyone would place a donation in the box provided and we’d be doing something for research as well as enjoying some sketching together.   We’d thought […]

SketchYourCake Japanese High Tea

May 28, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

Azuma Japanese High Tea. Tuesday May 27th. We’d planned this months ago but only this week did we manage a suitable afternoon to go. The easiest way to get there was by ferry and a short walk up Philip St bringing you to the corner of Chifley Plaza. In through the very grand entrance, past enormous contemporary paintings we went. Up the escalator and round to the far end and we arrive at the very elegant Azuma Japanese Restaurant. One […]

Sketching Vietnamese Street Food

May 24, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

THURSDAY 10AM CLASS. MAY 22 2014. Well we decided to go a bit tropical this week (dreaming of holidays in South-East Asia) so I delved into the kitchen cupboards and Voila! A veritable assortment of fruit and veg and spices ready to make a stir fry – yum! Before the class I went to my lemongrass bush and picked a few stalks and they are so fragrant it’s just delicious, they filled my car with their aroma ( better than […]

Valentine Sketching

February 15, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

THURSDAY 10am Class FEBRUARY 13 2014 It’s Valentine’s Day Eve. I saw this scribbled on one of the Students sketchbooks. I like it. We started our class today with a Travel Sketch talk from Tom. He and his very patient wife Pat have travelled through China and Mongolia and by train across Russia. Tom did as much sketching as time (or Pat ) would allow. “We’ll miss the train!’  From his books we could see where he’d been and the […]

Our Delicious Chinese NY High Tea.

January 28, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

Who would have thought. A very English tradition, with a very Chinese influence. That is multi-culturism for you. We have just celebrated Australia Day, so we’ve had a 3 day weekend to enjoy, to share with friends and be grateful that we are lucky enough to live here. We celebrate our multi-cultural society, and the contribution we all make to enrich the lives of all Australians. So how very timely that Anna the Executive Pastry Chef at Shangri-la Hotel Sydney, […]

January 24, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

This is an incredibly different style of High Tea for the Shangri-la Hotel. Anna the Executive Pastry chef has just invited us to their first Chinese New Year High Tea.  I know we said we wouldn’t do our next one till February, but we’ve just had our sketching arm twisted! We’re booking a table for Tuesday January 28th from 3pm – 5pm. Let me know if you’re keen to come along and sketch this quite different and exquisite High Tea. […]
