Sketch&Lunch. A taste of Vietnam

June 10, 2017 by Erin Hill Sketching

Sketch&Lunch We meet once a month (last Monday of the month) for some sketching, shopping of unique ingredients and eating of delicious lunch. Our first ever Sketch&Lunch was all about Vietnam this month. We met at the water buffalo and decided to sketch it whilst waiting for the rest of the group to join us. The water buffalo is on Freedom plaza in Cabramatta.   Next we headed to the Vietnamese bakery, where I introduced students to the delights of […]

Rain clouds over Sydney

Dramatic Rainclouds

April 24, 2011 by Erin Hill Sketching

I was with Sketchclub and attempting to get some drawing in at the Opera House before heading to a dry spot at The Royal Botanical Gardens adjoining. Most people like to see sunny skies but here we have some dramatic rain clouds – with some dramatic rain. For a few moments it seemed safe to sit on the ledge across from the Harbour Bridge. Of course I didn’t bother to close my bag and the rain came down. I did […]

Sketchclub Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea at the Gardens

March 23, 2011 by Erin Hill Sketching

The Royal Botanical Gardens whatsmore. You might think it’s all about plants with latin names,  odd cacti and duckponds, but that simply isn’t so. The centre of the Gardens – Royal – don’t forget, has a wonderful old building housing the main restaurant. This is where we were having our special afternoon tea after Sketch Club. This is a feature for the whole 6 weeks while Garden Sketchabout is on. The staff brought the 3 level display centrepice and placed […]

Summer Breakfast

The Best Breakfast

December 28, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

I’ve always loved breakfast. Of all the meals in a day, this is the one that appeals the most. In fact I even put the bowls out the night before and line up the fruit to be prepared on the chopping board. I prefer it’s not been in the fridge. Next morning, I take the dog for a good walk and when we get back we both have breakfast. Milton has his when he surfaces, and I know […]

Giant Crab Sculpture

More from Sketch Club

November 16, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

Ok, I knew you’d be busting to see the other ‘Sculptures by the Sea’ sketches. Da daaah, here they are. Anyway I’m glad I  had the opportunity to draw even a few of these wonderful creations, as they will all be gone by now. But where will they be gone to?  Where does one put a spare sculpture? Do you just pretend it wasn’t yours and don’t pickup?  Leave it on the nature strip? Under the bed? Anyone […]

Completed 'On the Seine' Acrylic

Eiffel, Notre Dame and Seine – final version

November 14, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

When I walked into the studio on Saturday morning, I decided this needed just a touch more work. I should say again that this painting is based on the very popular little sketch, ‘Eiffel Tour, Notre dame and the Seine. I’ve been in New Zealand for a week, and have some sketches yet to post, but wanted to tidy up the ‘Seine’ painting and get it on the wall. If it’s signed and on the wall – it’s done. No […]
