Sketching Over Acrylic

February 3, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

I’m actually beginning to think about my exhibition at Bather’s Pavilion next year. No pressure at all. I’m even thinking about where my painting is going. Definitely down the sketching pathway methinks. Those above are ones where I’ve started with an acrylic base painting, and let loose with black pen. Some are the full size, and some tightly cropped sections of them. I think they’re coming on. ©ErinHillStudio2014

Studio coming along, but will it work to share?

August 4, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

The track system is now up so have stacked the walls with everything formerly on the floor. Managed to get that olive/grey wall done so that the white track would sit nicely at the top, and I wouldn’t have to paint around it. The whole studio looks so fresh and bright. People are stopping to come and see what I’m doing now. The front window shows from the street as cars go by, so it’s obvious that it’s an art […]

Across Bondi to the North

Paintings from Eastern Suburbs

January 21, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

There are several paintings I’ve done for card ranges in the Bondi area. These first two are larger than the size I tend to paint now, but they certainly capture the vast spread of beach and water that is Bondi. The Bondi that is so iconic of Sydney. I was keen to paint the other beaches along the same coast, and in the show will be one for Tamarama Beach. It is a perfect picnic spot with its sheltered grassed […]

Selected Greek Isles Paintings

January 18, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

Before I begin- it’s now 2012 and both these paintings are available. These paintings are both from that Greek Isles Isles trip I thought wasn’t that long ago. However, on checking my diary – surprise surprise – I was there in May 2002. I had my last exhibition after that wonderful adventure, so many paintings have been waiting patiently in a drawer for their turn to be shown, Well the wait is almost over. We had 3 weeks around the […]

Tuscany Painting in Exhibition

January 17, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

I have created groups of work for the exhibition, according to which country they were painted in, and then the regions. The painting trip I was on last year was through Italy – Tuscany first then on to Umbria. Several works from this trip are in the show. Luckily  I’d thought to take this photo. Honestly, I wish I did this more. Most of the time it seems everybody else is in the shots, but try and find one with […]

Steve Capper to Open Exhibition

January 16, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

Trausse Minervois I have now painted 13 originals in the village of Trausse Minervois (30 mins from Carcassonne, 90mins from Toulouse. ) It seems so appropriate to have Marilyn and Steve as guests, and Steve to do the honours for my 2010 February to March exhibition at The Bathers Pavilion, Balmoral Beach. So many of my paintings over the years have been done for them. Luckily I have just a few small paintings available for the show. Make sure you […]

The Exhibition Is looming

January 16, 2010 by Erin Hill Sketching

I should be getting anxious, but  a sense of exhilaration is coming over me instead.  This is going to be quite a show. The exhibition space itself is a lovely airy 30’s style building ,and really was the old changing sheds many long years ago. Nowdays it’s an award winning restaurant and cafe, with the most wonderful upstairs areas for special occasions. This is the area I’m so thrilled to be showing my work in. When I was at Julian […]

Art of Wyoming

December 21, 2009 by Erin Hill Sketching

Yankee Boots Being in Wyoming has been a wonderful occasion to observe the ancient and local art. In The Plains Hotel, which is in the old part near the station, the buffalo had been used as quite a theme. Leadlights are very much part of  local interior design, so I took a pic of the ones in the foyer. The fabric on the chairs in the rooms again reflected this theme. The buffalo appeared in many ways. Statues outside public […]
