Sketch-your-Cake High Tea at The Tea Cosy.

August 1, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

SketchyourCake High Tea. Thursday July 31st. 2014. We’re so used to Tuesday being the afternoon of our sumptuous High Teas, that we had to keep reminding ourselves it would be Thursday this time. We’d chosen a little traditional Tea Shop called the Tea Cosy. It’s a family run business which is always nice, because you know they care. A change from the wide variety of larger venues we’ve been to over the years. That’s part of the fun of […]

July 16, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

Sketch your Cake High Tea at THE TEA COSY Tea Room. Thursday July 31st. 2pm – 4pm.    33 George St, The Rocks It’s high time we had another of our delicious Sketch Your Cake events.  This time we are going to the quaintest little tea rooms this side of the blarney. At the George St end of The Rocks,  almost under the harbour bridge, are a line of early cottages with tiny front courtyards and lots of tiny businesses. […]

SketchYourCake Japanese High Tea

May 28, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

Azuma Japanese High Tea. Tuesday May 27th. We’d planned this months ago but only this week did we manage a suitable afternoon to go. The easiest way to get there was by ferry and a short walk up Philip St bringing you to the corner of Chifley Plaza. In through the very grand entrance, past enormous contemporary paintings we went. Up the escalator and round to the far end and we arrive at the very elegant Azuma Japanese Restaurant. One […]

Our Delicious Chinese NY High Tea.

January 28, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

Who would have thought. A very English tradition, with a very Chinese influence. That is multi-culturism for you. We have just celebrated Australia Day, so we’ve had a 3 day weekend to enjoy, to share with friends and be grateful that we are lucky enough to live here. We celebrate our multi-cultural society, and the contribution we all make to enrich the lives of all Australians. So how very timely that Anna the Executive Pastry Chef at Shangri-la Hotel Sydney, […]

Chinese New Year High Tea, Shangri-la Hotel Sydney

January 24, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

This is an incredibly different style of High Tea for the Shangri-la Hotel. Anna the Executive Pastry chef has just invited us to their first Chinese New Year High Tea.  I know we said we wouldn’t do our next one till February, but we’ve just had our sketching arm twisted! We’re booking a table for Tuesday January 28th from 3pm – 5pm. Let me know if you’re keen to come along and sketch this quite different and exquisite High Tea. […]

Shangri-La Sketch your Cake

October 29, 2013 by Erin Hill Sketching

It’s amazing with today’s weather that we all turn up in one piece! Gale force winds and thunder at the very moment each of us is attempting to get to our bi-monthly Sketch your Cake event. But sketchers are very hardy folk. Here we are at the glorious Hotel Shangri-La, smiling and full of anticipation for what is ahead. Kevin our table attendant is there in a blink to take our tea and coffee orders. My car is being […]

Sketch your Cake at Shangri-La

October 11, 2013 by Erin Hill Sketching

It’s almost Sketch your Cake time once again. In fact this is the last one for 2013! Oh so soon. Anna from Bathers Pavilion had let me know she’s now the pastry chef at Shangri-La hotel. Atsuko and I decided to make an exploratory trip to the city, to check  it out. We were very impressed with the Lobby Lounge and its very inviting low tables and sofa chairs, which can be moved about a bit. Yes you can get […]

Sketch your Cake at Hyatt on The Rocks

August 28, 2013 by Erin Hill Sketching

Well it was a beautiful day in Sydney, and we all felt a little like rather posh tourists taking in our High Tea at the Park Hyatt. Both Christy and I ( being Vivianne )were there so you got two tutors for the price of one! With a stunning view of the harbour and The Rocks, we all took our seats at a long marble table.  Smartly dressed and very polite staff brought out beautifully shaped plate stands filled with […]
