Holiday Sketching.

January 29, 2018 by Erin Hill Sketching

Wednesday January 24 ’18. Bella Vista with Kathy We are rather used to having our Holiday sketching at Bella Vista with just the locals and luckily for us this week, we could sit in the shade under the massive Morton Bay trees and sketch in a small breeze. Kathy had found the glorious gum flowers which look exactly like upside down ballet tutus. Kathy is so good with her ways to treat what’s in front of you in different ways […]

Holiday Sketching

January 12, 2018 by Erin Hill Sketching

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 10 ’18 What will the weather do today? That question is getting harder to answer. I used to be able to count on gorgeous days whenever we sketched, but lately someone isn’t playing by the rules. Well fine. We’ll get on with sketching and ignore what’s coming out of the sky. A couple of found items today became our sketches over coffee. I’d picked a delicate flannel flower on the track earlier, including the leaves, so we could […]

Sydney.Summer Sketching. Rain Rain Rain

January 5, 2016 by Erin Hill Sketching

Tuesday Jan 5 ’16 The forecast was for rain so it was hardly a surprise that it did. Not that it was cold, just raindrops kept falling on our heads – till we hurried inside at Crinitis. A good group of us today and already settled wondering what we’d be doing. Rain of course. Usually we look for blue skies and sun regardless of what is actually happening. But there will be days when there’s very little blue around so that’s […]

Sketching Week 4. Gnomes & Homes. .

February 28, 2015 by Erin Hill Sketching

A very cheerful couple of gnomes with their gardening tools graced our tables this week.  Observing their chunky little shapes and chipmunk cheeks proved trickier than one thought. This was the first watercolour week for some. Keep your colours clean. Each colour into the palette. No pre-mixing. Here was a great chance to really feel what the colours can do, and to correct old habits. With some test swatches in our books it was round the corner to a decorative […]

Sketching Nature, First Week Term 4.

October 11, 2014 by Erin Hill Sketching

Tuesday Class. October 7 2014. We’re excited and we’re back for term 4 together, and everyone is eager to get to class today. We’ve gotten ‘flowers’ to sketch in the studio today, and I was still arranging them when the early ones were arriving. We chatted happily about our breaks and shared our lovely sketching with others to see what we’d been up to. Absolutely delightful! We have a few new sketchers with us today too, and so with the wonderful […]
