The latest EHS Watercolour Set

January 12, 2018 by Erin Hill Sketching

I’ve had this in mind for awhile. When the more experienced sketchers reach a point that maybe, just maybe, there are other paint colours with a variety of pigment strengths out there busting to be tried, we need to have an answer. I have been trying the St-Petersburg extra fine artists’ watercolours. Known as White Nights. What! you may say. We only use the very reliable Cotmans watercolour set. And we certainly do, and will continue to, with it’s […]

Term 4. Week 3. Embellishments and Water Scenes

October 28, 2017 by Erin Hill Sketching

Hello everybody, we are in week 3 already. We have a had a week full of new skills being practiced, and for some classes, new tools being introduced. General students discovered the joy of embellishing their sketch pages. Tuesday Manly General ‘Permission to Play’ was today’s theme with lettering our focus. You could have heard a pin drop. So much concentration. Sketchers chose headings, title pages, quotes and embellished old sketch book pages. It was lovely to have time in […]

Thurs Nov 22. Perfume & Wooden hands

Perfume,Hands,Streets & Boats

November 24, 2012 by Erin Hill Sketching

Our Sketching Week. Nov 22,23,24.  An excellent week for our sketchers. Take a look. THURSDAY NOV 22 ’12 I love the new wooden hands they had in my Art store. One is slightly larger than the other so having two together is a great sketch for people. The two hands are not forgiving if you don’t observe well before starting your sketch. And seeing I sketched my new perfume yesterday, that was the inspiration for the other choice today. Both […]

Wood in Architecture, Coffee & Yummy things

August 31, 2012 by Erin Hill Sketching

Now it’s coming back to me. The most used building material here is wood. Beautiful homes and elegant buildings. All of wood. No termites to munch them up. Milton and I had coffee further along the main road at Dizzengoff Cafe. Right behind Milton’s head was the Polynesian Methodist Church, a lovely old building in wood. It ended up as a sketch amongst the other bits and pieces on the page. Also passed by bright green lawns with little white […]
